昨日の太田先生のお話を聞き、実際アメリカでどうなのか?留学中のボスに聞いてみました。
Ronald Wilder先生は、RAとホルモンの分野で有名な先生です。
以下のようなやり取りをしました。
By the way, HRT, hormone replacement therapy, is getting popular for
menopausal woman. Could I have your opinion for RA patients?
Hi Takei, it is nice hear from you. I'm glad to hear that you will be some
scientific presentations soon.
Regarding HRT and RA, I think it is GOOD for RA. It minimizes bone loss, it
suppresses TNF-alpha production by T cells, and may inhibit the development of
atherosclerotic heart disease. There are no data that HRT makes RA worse; in
fact, most data suggest that it helps. I recommend giving HRT to
postmenopausal women with RA.
Best wishes and keep in touch,
Ron
