28. To make a connection-kechien

Kechien means to establish ties with the Dharma. One's connection with the Dharma or the Buddha's teaching is made by any reactions of mind to the Dharma or the teaching on hearing it. It means that various reactions of mind to the Dharma are engraved deep inthe eight consciousness.
To believe in the Buddha's teaching obediently on hearing it and to chant the Odaimoku is referrred to as a favourable condition.
To oppose the teaching without believing is referred to as a reverse condition. In either case, once the connecition has been made with the Dharma, it will be maintained without being broken. Therefore a reverse condition will be transformed into a favourable condition and those who protest against the teaching are said to belive in the Dharma and to become followers after all.
