Dear Participants,

This is the 2nd announcement of

   CONFERENCE ON SINGULARITY THEORY AND
COMMUTATIVE RING THEORY

supported by Grants-in-Aid in Scientific Researches
"Singular Points on an Algebraic Variety" (Shihoko Ishii)
and The Institute of Natural Sciences, Nihon University.

The aim of this symposium is to try to find new relationships
between singularity theory and commutative ring theory.
We are trying to organize so that each talk will be related to
both theories as much as possible.

The main/invited speakers includes the following people
and also some of the organizers.

    Florin Ambro (Kyoto Univ.)
    Holger Brenner (Univ. Sheffield),
    Lawrence Ein (Univ. Illinois, Chicago),
    Tommaso de Fernex (Univ. Michigan),
    Kazuhiro Konno (Osaka Univ.),
    Shigeru Kuroda (Kyoto Univ.)
    Atsushi Noma (Yokohama National Univ.),
    Tomohiro Okuma (Gunma Coll. Tech.),
    Jihun Park (POSTECH Pohan),
    Paul Roberts (Univ. Utah),
    Vasdevan Srinivas (Tata Inst,),
    Shunsuke Takagi (Kyushu Univ.),
    Vijaylaxmi Trivedi (Tata Inst,),
    Jonathan Wahl (Univ. North Carolina),
    Yuji Yoshino (Okayama Univ.),

The meeting will take place from September 12 to September 16,
 2005 at "Curriac" ( http://www.curreac.co.jp/ ) near Lake Hamana,
located between Tokyo and Nagoya. The participants are supposed
to arrive at the place on Sept. 11 (Sun) and the last talk will end around
 noon on Sept. 16 (Fri.).
The participants from abroad are asked to come to the main
station near the hotel (Hamamatsu), which is about 2 hours distance
from either Tokyo or Osaka and 1 hour from Nagoya. Then somebody
will take you to the hotel. We will discuss how to meet each other at
the station (or other place) after you fixed your schedule. It will take about 3.5
hours to Hamamatsu station from either Narita (near Tokyo) or Kansai
(near Osaka) airport and about 2.5 hours from Chubu (near Nagoya) airport
(which is quite new). We think if you arrive at one of the airports cited above
by 5 o'clock in the afternoon, then you can reach the hotel by night.

The travel expense and stay for participants from abroad are covered
by grant of Shihoko Ishii and detail will be informed from her.

The hotel is located on a beautiful seaside of Lake Hamana but
rather isolated from city or shops. So, every meal will be served there.
We are planning an excursion on Wednesday afternoon.
I am sorry to inform you we will be isolated from internet or e-mail, too.

The speakers are kindly requested to submit the title(s) and abstract (s)
(about 2 pages) by the end of June (we plan to announce the program
at the beginning of July).

We are looking forward to seeing you in Japan.
