The Kawagoe Festival

On Saturday, I went to the Kawagoe Festival with my family (my wife, my eldest daughter and my son in law).
The Kawagoe is a city that was held as an ancient town in the Edo era (17th~18th century). So Kawagoe is called "Ko-Edo" that means little Edo

We had lunch at Japanese restaurant named "Imo-Zen".And I chose " Imo-Zen-Lunch" and the Imo beer made from sweet potato. The Imo-zen-Lunch was almost all made from sweet potato. It is the most famous lunch in Kawagoe, because Kawagoe is known as a source of sweet potato.

After a lunch, we went around kawagoe city to see a lot of the old Kawagoe's life style and a lot of old Dashi. Dashi is the float for the festival, and is made by many mechanism,For example, The float is extra higher, and the big doll is lifted up on the top. It is very beautiful. In the evening, The Dashi is lit up by a lot of lanterns called Chouchin.

The Dashi cannot turn itself because it doesn't handling system. Then it is lift up by a jack and turned by the hands of many people now.
At the Gion-Festival in Kyoto, Dashi is turned by the bamboo plates under wheels like in ancient times.
It is a great spectacle.

After seeing it, I bought the wears called "Samue". It is a fashionable now, But it was a working wear a long time ago like blue jeans.
I had a good time with my family.

That's all.
