「交流で育てるふるさとへの愛と誇り」
-小さな島、7名の湯島中からの発見・発信・発展-

熊本県天草郡大矢野町立湯島中学校（前任校）は、小さな島の小さな中学校である。ふるさと湯島を愛する心や誇りに思う気持ちを胸に、島を出たときも、自分らしさを失わずに、胸をはっていきてほしいと願う。 　そこで、３つのコミュニティーエリア（いつも会えるところ、ときどき会うことができるところ、実際に会うことが難しいところ）の人たちと、湯島の素晴らしさを発見する、発信する、発展するという視点をもち交流を行った。多くの人とかかわるなかで、地域を見つめ直し、地域を大切にしていこうという気持ちが高まっていった。

How the telecommunication helps students raise their love and pride　of hometown.

Discovery, Publishing, Developing out of Yushima Junior High School,
which has only seven students on a small island.

Yushima Junior High School is in Ohyano town of Amakusa in Kumamoto　Prefecture. It is a small junior high school on a small island.　I hope all the students who will leave there will take a love and　pride of their hometown, Yushima, without forgetting their roots. We exchange having viewpoints to discover how wonderful Yushima is.　We correspond with three different 'community areas,' one where we　can easily meet poeple directly, one further away, and one very remote. Through these correspondences, students raise their awareness of　their hometown and increase their willingness to treasure it.
