Pinhole photography is the art of making basic photographs using a simple light-tight box with a pinhole at one end and a piece of photographic paper or film at the other. With no lens, no viewfinder, no exposure meter, there is a lot of guesswork and luck in creating an image. Unlike usual photography, pinhole photography demands a lot of time too as the artist cannot predict how long the shutter stays open. Ms. TADOKORO enjoys the thrill of anticipating the outcome as her works are a collaboration with chance, a "doki doki" heartbeat experience. Her pictures taken in Paris through a tiny hole in "slow" mode create a soft blur effect. Like our journeys through life, one thing remains the same - slowly but surely, change occurs. |
