LED interior lighting for 3-axles compartment wagon.

• This page shows installing LED interior lighting for old märklin 3-axles compartment wagon.
• Contents will be added when the development will advanced.

Tasks of project

• Install LED interior light .
• Add märklin c96 function decoder.
• Add flicker free circuit.

Circuit

• The circuit has condenser back up flicker-free function.
• Three functions (Cabin, Toilet and Brakeman's cab(only preparation)) controlled by märklin c96 function decoder.
• All equipments installed in 'attic' of toilet.

Main unit

The main unit installed in 'attic' of toilet.

• Connector to pickup shoes.
• Lighting unit NR and R.
• c96 function decoder.
• Condensers C31, C32, C41 and C42.
• Current limit resistors R31, R41 and R401.
• Anti back current diodes D31 and D41.
• Normal brightness yellow LEDs D401 and D411 for toilet.

Lighting unit NR

Lighting unit NR placed in under roof of four compartments in Non-smoking(Nicht Raucher) area.

• Connector to main unit.
• LEDs D301, D311, D302 and D312(super bright yellow LED / hübner's spare parts #4036).
• Current limit resistors R301 and R302.

• A preparation connector for lighting of brakeman's cab.
• Directly connected to f2 output.
• I can't reach to conclusion there's a permanently fixed lighting in the cab or not.

Lighting unit R

Lighting unit R placed in under roof of two compartments in Smoking(Raucher) area.

• Connector to main unit.
• LEDs D303 and D313 (super bright yellow LED / hübner's spare parts #4036).
• Current limit resistor R303.

Installation

Main unit

• Main unit fixed to roof with two 15mm nylon hexagonal pillar.

Connector between Main unit and pickup shoe.

• Can be access both from roof and toilet door.
• This is an only electric connection between body and roof. So it is very easy to remove the roof.

Lighting unit NR and R.

• Fixed by pushing in to original screw base.

Units in it's place.

Coding switch.

Coding switch of c96 can be access from toilet door.

Pickup shoes

Original pickup shoes from märklin #5605 lighting kit (discontinued).

 

Completed wagon

Result

• Handle to easy construction by compact main unit.
• All of equipments are invisible form outside.
• Fully digital control.
• Fully flicker free lighting achieved.

Important parts:

• Hyper brightness yellow LEDs : hübner #4036 LED hyperhell für Innenraum (10 pcs. / pack).
