選考は、そのアーティストがロック・ミュージックの発展と存続に対して果たした貢献の影響、重要性等を

考慮して行われます。「ノンパフォーマー」と「サイドマン」の両部門にも同様の基準が適用されます。

これらの部門の候補者となるには、キャリア開始から25年以上が経過していなければなりません。

「ノンパフォーマー」部門の対象者は、ソングライター、プロデューサー、ディスクジョッキー、レコード会社幹部

（主にA&R関係）、レコーディング・エンジニア、マネージャー、ジャーナリストなどの業界関係者です。
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record.
Criteria considered includes the influence and significance of the artist's contribution
to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. Similar criteria is used for the
"Non Performer" and "Side-men" category, whose career must have commenced at
least 25 years prior to induction.
Those eligible for the "Non Performer" category include songwriters, producers, disc-
jockeys, record company executives (who are mainly related to A&R), recording engi-
neers, managers, journalists and other industry professionals.

「アーリー・インフルエンス」部門は、ロック以前のアーティストで、ロック・ミュージックにインスピレーションと

多大な影響を与えた者を対象とします。
The "Early Influence" category includes artist whose music predates rock and roll, but
who inspired and had a profound affect over rock and roll music.

ロック史の研究家によって構成される「ロックの殿堂財団」の候補者選定委員会が、毎年「パフォーマー」

部門の候補者１５人を選定します。候補者名は、各国の約千人のロック専門家のもとに送られ、これらの

人々による投票が行われます。

候補者のうち、最も多くの票を獲得したアーティスト及び総投票数の過半数を得たアーティストが受賞者と

なります。毎年の受賞者の数は、5人から７人程度です。
The Foundation's nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects
15 nominees each year in the "artist" category. Ballots are sent to an international
voting body of about 1,000 rock experts.
Those performers who receive the highest number and more than 50% of the votes are
inducted. There are usually between 5-7 artists inducted annually.

1983年、音楽業界のリーダーたちの手により、ロックの殿堂財団が設立されました。

ロックの殿堂財団は、数多くの活動を行っていますが、その１つが「ロックの殿堂」賞を授与することにより、

ロック・ミュージックの発展、存続に大きな影響を与えた人々の貢献を評価することです。
Leaders in the music industry joined together in 1983 to establish the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame Foundation.
One of the Foundations many functions is to recognize the contributions of those
who have had a significantimpact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock
and roll by inducting them into the Hall of Fame.

ロック以前のアーティストで、ロックの発展に影響を与え、ロックの主要なアーティストにインスピレーションを

与えた者が対象となります。
Artists whose music predated rock and roll but had an impact on the evolution of rock and
roll and inspired rocks leading artists.

ノンパフォーマー部門及びアーリー・インフルエンス部門の受賞者は、特別選考委員会が決定します。
The special selection committee elects the inductees in the Non-performer and Early
Influences categories.

■サイドマン部門■
Side Men

2000年に設置された新しい部門で、主要なアーティストのレコーデイングやコンサートのバックミュージシャン

として、スポットライトの当たらないところで貢献してきたミュージシャンを表彰するものです。

こうした人々は、歴史に残る音楽を生み出す上で、しばしば重要な役割を演じていますが、その名前は一般の

人々にはほとんど知られることがありません。プロデューサーを中心とする別個の委員会が受賞者を決定します。
This category was introduced in 2000. It honors those musicians who have spent their
career out of the spotlight,
performing asbackup musicians for major artists on recording sessions and in concert.
Though they often play a key role in the creation of memorable music, the public rarely
knows them by name. A separate committee, composed primarily of producers, selects
theinductees in this category.
