	Hello, I'm Naomi Shimanuki. Art has been the most important part of my life from the beginning of my life. Before my entrance to elementary school, I started to draw a face with a realistic shading. It was fun. When I was in the first grade of elementary school, some 6th grade's girls came to my classroom, and asked me to draw illustration of a comics. I'd loved to. This was my first experience that I recognized my drawing could make someone happy and we could share beauty. In my child age, drawing and writing a short story were my favorite things. My favorite artists are Klimt, Egon Schiele, Alphonse Mucha, some artists of the Pre-Raphaelites and so on. I used to go to museums and I'd learned art history from reading a lot of books. In spite of my enthusiasm for art, I proceeded to the university with a major in chemistry at Tokyo Science University to get a job. Illustration was my hobby. I started to use acrylic paints in this time. After graduation, I worked as a computer software programmer. While raising my children, I began to think that I'd like to use my time for my passion. So I started to work as a free illustrator. Solo Exhibition at Ginza, Tokyo was in 1989. My works were invited to Dentsu-Illustration New Wave 100 Exhibition in 1990. But at last I came across tole painting at a bookstore in 1996. I thought this is what I wanted to get involved in. If I teach some brush technique, I can share beauty with someone. Day after day, night after night, I'd painted by myself and I've designed original pattern. Now getting acquainted and sharing beauty with someone through painting makes me so happy.
