Origins of Tai Chi

There are two origins of Tai Chi. One is a Wudan Tai Chi by Zhang Sanfeng in Wudangshan. Wudangshan is sacred place of Taoism. And the other is the Chen family’s originated Chen style Tai Chi.
Chen style Tai Chi has been passed down only Chen Clan for a long time. Around the end of the Qing Dynasty. Yang Louchan learned Chen style Tai Chi. He is the first person who learned this Tai Chi other than Chen Clan. After learned the Tai Chi he trained around China, after that he taught Tai Chi to many people in Beijing. this is called Yang style Tai Chi.
The Chinese Physical Education Committee established simplified Tai Chi specializing in health based on Yang style Tai Chi, these are the most popular Tai Chi in the world now, these called 24style and 48style Tai Chi.
Tai Chi as a traditional martial art derived from Yang style Tai Chi is Wu style Tai Chi and Sun style Tai Chi etc. Our society teaches Chen style Tai Chi, Sun style Tai Chi, 99 style Tai Chi, and Wudang Tai Chi. Beginners learn one of the these types, after learning one style of Tai Chi, start two people's practicing, such as push and pull hands etc.

ChenStyle Tai Chi

Chen Style Tai Chi add elements of Shaolinquan and Xinyiquan, also it has taken in Qigong and Chinese medicine, it is not only as a martial arts but also a very good for health.

Chen Style Tai Chi has soft movements and powerful movements (Hakkei). This is the feature of Chen Style Tai Chi. In particular, the second form of Chen Style Tai Chi (Baochui) is continuous powerful and fast movement. Baochui has a feeling of actually fighting, unlike a general Tai Chi image.

Wudang Taijiquan

Zhang Sanfeng is founder of Taoism in Mt.Wudang, he is also the originator of Wudang Tai Chi. Wudang Tai Chi is composed of eight forms. It is a slow and soft motion and it moves linearly, this forms like combining other Tai Chi, Baguazhang and Xinyiquan.

99Style Taijiquan

99style Tai Chi of our society, it was instructed to Sato Kinbei sensei from Wang Shujin sensei.
In his childhood Wang Shujin sensei learned Baguazhang and Xinyiquan from Zhang Zhankui, Li Zunyi and Xiao Haibo. He also learned Yiquan from Wang Xiangzhai. After that he went to Taiwan. And after that he came to Japan in1958.
Sato Kinbei sensei learned 99style Tai Chi, Baguazhang and Xinyiquan from Wang Shujin sensei about 8 years.

SunStyle Taijiquan

Modern Chinese famous martial artist Sun Lutang learned Xinyiquan from Guo Yunshen. And he learned Baguazhang from Cheng Tinghua and learned Wu style Tai Chi from Hao WeiZhen. After that he created a Sun style Tai Chi that combines the excellent elements of these three type of Kung Fu and has added his own ideas.
Although it’s motions are compact, there are many motions like to Qigong method. This is ideal for breathing and practice of senses.
