[Acquiring a Status of Residence]
If you were born in Japan or have renounced or lost Japanese nationality, you are to stay in Japan without getting through the landing examination.
You may stay in Japan without a status of residence up to 60 days from the date of birth, renouncement or loss. However, when you intend to stay in Japan beyond such period, you shall apply for and acquire a status of residence and period of stay within 30 days from such date.

When you stay in Japan for more than 60 days without a status of residence, you shall be subject to punishment and deportation. When deported, you can not enter Japan for 5 years from the date of deportation.
