[Those who have a Kinship with Japanese Nationals]
1. A spouse
1) Ability condition: To be exempted.
2) Period of residence: To be either of the followings.
- To have stayed in Japan continuously for more than 3 years and also to stay at the time of application (regardless of the period of marriage).
- 3 years have elapsed since marriage and to have stayed in Japan continuously for more than 1 year.
3) The marriage shall be effective by Japanese law (not applicable to a common-law marriage).
2. A child
1) Ability and living conditions: To be exempted.
2) Period of residence: To stay in Japan at the time of application.
3. An adopted child
1) Living condition: To be exempted.
2) Ability condition: To be a minority by the law of native country at the time of adoption.
3) Period of residence: To have stayed in Japan continuously for more than 1 year.
[Those who have Renounced Japanese Nationality]
1. Ability and living conditions: To be exempted.
2. Period of residence: To stay in Japan at the time of application
[Those who were born in Japan]
1. Those who were born in Japan.
1) Period of residence: To have stayed in Japan continuously for more than 3 years and also to stay in Japan at the time of application.
2. Those who were born in Japan and also their father or mother was born in Japan.
1) Period of residence: To stay in Japan at the time of application.
3. Those who were born in Japan and have no nationality since the time of birth.
1) Ability and living conditions: To be exempted.
2) Period of residence: To have stayed in Japan continuously for more than 3 years since the time of birth
